After years of roasting opposing defenders on the football field, Kansas City Chiefs superstars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce are going to be doing some roasting in the kitchen as part of a new restaurant they’re opening together.
In a recent interview, Mahomes spoke at length about the restaurant – 1587 Prime – a steakhouse which was announced last month. He said that it’s been something he and Kelce have been working on for a while and he hopes it will help bring people together in Kansas City.
“Me and Travis have been working on that for a while. We’re always together. We’re always at these restaurants, and we have a love for bringing people together,” Mahomes said, via Sports Radio 810 WHB. “We’re going to do whatever we can to continue to bring people together and what better place than Kansas City.”
Mahomes also made it clear that he’s happy to have a little bit of fun with the menu once it’s finalized, such as making certain items “$15,” having items with ketchup since it’s his favorite condiment, and having an “Andy Reid Cheeseburger.”
“I’m sure there will be some things on there that will be $15,” Mahomes said. “All honesty, though, we thought about that and we don’t want to make it too upscale, too high-priced that not everybody can go.”
“So we’re going to make it a place where hopefully Kansas City can call it home, and that everybody can be there and really enjoy it.
“I’ve already seen the menu…a few of my favorites. Ketchup will be there… (The Andy Reid Cheeseburger) that’ll for sure be on there.”
Mahomes said that he hopes the restaurant can be a nice place to celebrate a lot of wins with friends and family after games.
“Hopefully we can win some games at Arrowhead Stadium and then we get to go over and have a few drinks and food with it,” Mahomes said.
