Chiefs Andy Reid could set NFL record for coaching victories | Kansas City Star
REGULAR SEASON
Former Dolphins/Colts coach Don Shula has the most regular-season victories in NFL history with 328, per Pro Football Reference. George Halas is second at 318, followed by Bill Belichick (302) and Reid (258).
Reid is 70 victories behind Shula, which means the Chiefs would have to win an average of 11.8 games a season to surpass Shula by the end of Reid’s new deal.
Since Patrick Mahomes became the starting quarterback in 2018, the Chiefs have averaged 12.5 victories per season. If the Chiefs maintain that pace over the next six seasons, Reid would have 333 career regular-season victories.
And he’d be No. 1 in NFL history.
Chiefs NFL Draft Big Board: 25 prospects to consider in the first 3 rounds | The Athletic
Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas (No. 33): Mitchell may have the perfect blend of size (6-4) and speed (ran the 40-yard dash at the combine in 4.34 seconds) to excel in the Chiefs offense, even as a rookie. He also has excellent hands.
Darius Robinson, DE, Missouri (No. 35): Read Brugler’s evaluation of Robinson after this sentence and start thinking of the comparison with George Karlaftis, whom the Chiefs selected with the 30th pick in 2022. “Robinson has always looked the part, but moving to more of an edge rusher role in 2023 led to a breakout season — he led the Tigers in tackles for loss (14) and sacks (8.5). A power-based rusher, he wears down blockers with his upper-body strength and aggressive hand usage, unleashing his anaconda arms to swallow ball carriers in the run game.”

32. Kansas City Chiefs: Texas WR Xavier Worthy
Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy (8) celebrates a touchdown that put Texas up 7-0 over West Virginia during the game at Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas on Oct. 1, 2022.
Worthy’s speed could be a game-changer for the Chiefs and is a logical pick for Kansas City here at No. 32. Even after the Chiefs signed Marquise “Hollywood” Brown in free agency, the defending Super Bowl champions have a need for a wide receiver who can become a mainstay in Andy Reid’s offense.
2024 NFL Mock Draft: Former Executives Predict This Year’s First Round | The 33rd Team
LADD MCCONKEY, WR, GEORGIA
Height: 6-foot
Weight: 186 pounds
Class: Junior
Tannenbaum: I’m going with Ladd McConkey for the Kansas City Chiefs, as they’re dealing with Rashee Rice’s situation. I love McConkey even though he didn’t have the production this past year.
He only played nine games because of injuries, but he ran really well (4.39). I thought he was uncoverable at the Senior Bowl. McConkey is tough, smart and dependable. Even though the Chiefs got Hollywood Brown, I think they need another receiver.
A Look Back at Every Second-Round Draft Pick in Chiefs History | The Mothership
– The Chiefs selected Pro Football Hall of Fame linebacker Willie Lanier in the second round (50th overall) of the 1967 Draft. Lanier played in 149 games for Kansas City, earning eight Pro Bowl selections and a spot in Canton in 1986.
– Eight of the Chiefs’ second-round picks since 1967 went on to play in at least 100 games for Kansas City: center Tim Grunhard (169), linebacker Jim Lynch (151), linebacker Willie Lanier (149), offensive tackle Dave Lutz (139), tight end Jonathan Hayes (136), defensive tackle Chris Jones (123), offensive tackle Charlie Getty (119), and running back Ed Podolak (104).

Predictions
It’s always tricky to try and predict what the team picking last will do, but if wide receivers of the calibre of Ladd McConkey or Adonai Mitchell are still there at the back of the first round, he would be a wise pick.
With the leading offensive tackles off the board by the time the Chiefs pick again, there is likely to be more value in nabbing a pass rusher in the second round, so the likes of Austin Booker or Brandon Dorlus could be an option.
The Chiefs will be keeping an eye on offensive tackles and should look to land someone like Kiran Amegadjie or Matt Goncalves at the end of day two.
Around the NFL
The league said its efforts to gather information regarding the Eagles’ and Falcons’ actions at the start of the new league year and any potential tampering remains ongoing and will not finish this week, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday. The news means 2024 picks will not be involved in any possible discipline that could come as a result of their findings.
The Eagles are under review for their signing of Saquon Barkley away from the division-rival Giants, while the Falcons have drawn attention from the NFL for their efforts to sign quarterback Kirk Cousins. Public comments regarding both moves drew additional attention from the league, and as of Tuesday, NFL officials have not wrapped up their investigations into the matters, per Rapoport and Pelissero.

Chiefs Draft: 2 underrated left tackles who could be available in 2024
That length shows up in his game when he gets into defenders’ chests and overwhelms them. You can see it in this clip, as he completes a pancake block on the back side of the run.
There’s no question that Amegadjie has the physical foundation to be an NFL left tackle. And he consistently locked down the blind side at Yale: per PFF, he did not allow a sack (and surrendered just one quarterback hit) over the 14 starts at left tackle.
But he will need to refine his technique to reach his ceiling as a starter. While he needs work on his hand placement and play-to-play consistency, there is a universe in which Amegadjie becomes a dependable starter.
He is projected to be drafted later on Day 2 — possibly in the back half of the third round. He ranks 75th in Arrowhead Pride’s consensus prospect ranking.
