They have won six straight
Today, the Royals took on the White Sox in the last game of a four game series and looked to land the sweep and carry their win streak to six games. The Royals have displayed dominant pitching over the last few weeks and the bats have managed to do enough to get them wins in 14 of their last sixteen. This continued for Kansas City as they won 10-0 dominating the White Sox and will enter a series with the Red Sox sitting at 23-16 and are 2 games out of first place in the central.
The Royals bats were alive right from the start, with Bobby Witt and Jonathan India flying out to right field on hard hit balls. Fortunately they were followed up by a Vinnie Pasquantino single and a Salvador Perez double to put Kansas City up 1-0. Perez was able to tag on another run with two outs, driving in Bobby Witt Jr who was able to get on and steal his 12th bag of the year.
Things got interesting in the fifth inning, with Kris Bubic giving up a leadoff double followed by a single, giving Chicago runners on first and third with no outs. But was able to escape unscathed after forcing a grounder allowing Maikel Garcia to throw home and get the first out. Bubic then forced a grounder back to the mound and got his third double play of the game to get out of the inning.
The Royals came up in the bottom of the fifth not to be out done, and managed to also get their first two hitters on, with a walk from Jonathan India and a single by Bobby Witt Jr. This was followed by two outs by Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez, but Maikel Garcia was able to come through with two outs and drove them both in.
Drew Waters was able to start things off with a single, was able to steal second and was advanced to third by Freddy Fermin. This set up Jonathan India who doubled up the third base line to drive in Waters and then Bobby Witt followed him with a double of his own to put Kansas City up 6-0. Kansas City scored each of their first six runs with two outs.
In the pitching battle, the winner was clear, as Kris Bubic dominated todays game, going seven scoreless. Davis Martin on the other hand struggled as he was only able to make it 4.1 innings giving up four runs and seven hits. Bubic gave up six hits which was not ideal, but he only allowed one walk, got seven strikeouts and forced three double plays.
This dropped his ERA to an INSANE 1.69 through eight games and 48 total innings
The game got out of hand in the bottom of the eighth where the Royals got hits from Drew Waters, Freddy Fermin, Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr and Vinnie Pasquantino all in a row. The White Sox opted to let a position player (Jacob Amaya) pitch and got three outs. Kansas City was able to post four more runs on the Sox and entered the ninth up 10-0. Steven Cruz came in for the ninth and got three up three down to end the game and send the White Sox packing.
