Readers want the team to sell.

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Kansas City Royals fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Things have been going steadily downhill for the Royals for over a month. Last time we joined together here, we were hoping the Royals would add two bats at the deadline. This time, we asked whether the Royals should be adding at all. And, well, the results of this poll probably won’t surprise you.

Results from the poll question, “How should the Royals approach the 2025 Trade Deadline?” With 69% responding Trade All Expiring Deals

As you can see, a clear majority of Royals fans, more than two-thirds of you, or 69% (nice!) to be exact, thought the Royals should sell at the deadline. Interestingly, the vote for trading away all the valuable assets got the least support at 4%, so it seems most of you would rather buy than sell everyone.

To be clear, the expiring contracts for this season are Seth Lugo, Hunter Harvey (currently on the 60-day IL), Michael Lorenzen, and Salvador Perez (who has a $13.5 million team option). Cavan Biggio and Mark Canha are also only on one-year deals, but are unlikely to garner any trade interest at all.

If you’re willing to deal guys who will be free agents after next season, too, you can add Jonathan India, Carlos Estévez (who has a club option for 2027 that could make him more valuable to a team that wants the option to keep him if he’s good), Kris Bubic, John Schreiber, and Kyle Wright.

These survey results are sponsored by FanDuel.
