Kris Bubic took the loss despite throwing another gem
It’s been the story all season, pitching awesome, offense not good. It’s a familiar sight, and a frustrating one at that as the Royals dropped a rubber game at home to the Tigers 1-0.
A leadoff triple in the 3rd inning by Zach McKinstry, and a wild pitch, where Salvador Perez gave up on trying to retrieve, was enough to best the Royals.
The Royals loaded the bases with 2 outs in the first after three straight singles from Pasquantino, Perez and Waters, but John Rave struck out looking. The Royals out hit the Tigers, 9 to 5, but 8 singles, 3 of them being infield hits wasn’t enough.
Kris Bubic went 7 innings, gave up 4 hits, 1 run, walked 2 and struck out 9 more. But he surrendered the only run of the game and took the loss.
The Royals have been .500 or better, record wise in all three months of play so far this season. They went 2-2 in March, 14-13 in April and 15-13 in May, but they start June with a loss.
Despite having the second-best team ERA in all of Major League Baseball, the Royals are only 2 games over .500 at 31-29. They have a negative run differential at -7.
That is how inept the Royals offense has been. The Royals offense has only scored more runs than the Pirates and Rockies, two of the worst teams in baseball. They have hit the least amount of homers baseball, with only 34 on the season. They have drawn the least amount of walks in the league.
The game was rather boring, as most games are with the Royals offense is. Personally, I’m fed up and frustrated with it. Changes are probably needed offensively, whether it’s players or coaching wise.
Luckily, we are all safe from watching the offense tomorrow, as the Royals have an off day as they travel to St Louis, for a 3 game road series. After that, they travel to the Southside, for a 3 game weekend series against the White Sox.
