Here we go
I met Jeff Passan a few weeks ago the last time I was covering a Royals game; he was there to interview some folks and write a column about when top prospect Jac Caglianone would make his debut. We chatted about who the last prospect to generate this much coverage was and landed on Bobby Witt Jr. in 2022. Before that? Maybe Eric Hosmer, a decade earlier.
Well, today is the first game that Caglianone will play here at home, in Kauffman Stadium. I got here at 2:15 and there were already some folks outside the player entrance and 96.5 The Fan was doing a live radio show outside the ticket gates. There are more people signed up to be in the press box than I’ve ever seen before. The New York Yankees are in town.
For a series preview, check out Max’s as always lovely work. Tonight, it’s Noah Cameron versus Max Fried, a battle of lefties.
