College Football Quarterback Went To Hospital, Came Back To Win Game

October 21, 2024 by The Spun

Meet The Cheerleading Squads Of The SEC (1:45)

There can’t be many players in college football history who not only had to be hospitalized after sustaining an injury during a game, but came back to win said game. Missouri quarterback Brady Cook is now a part of that small group.

During today’s game against SEC rival Auburn, Cook suffered an ankle injury early in the game that saw him go to a nearby hospital to get an MRI. ESPN initially reported that he was “unlikely to return” to the game. Cook proved them wrong.

The Missouri quarterback returned to the game in the third quarter with the team trailing 17-6. He re-entered it in the fourth quarter and led the Tigers on two touchdown drives to erase the deficit and deliver the win to his team. Cook finished the game with 11 completions for 194 yards and no turnovers in the win.

Afterwards, Cook bluntly explained why he was so eager to return to the game. According to On3 Sports, he told his teammates that he’s only got two left at Missouri’s Faurot Field before he graduates and wouldn’t miss it.

“I’ve only got two and a half games left on Faurot Field, I’m not missing this one in the hospital,” Cook reportedly said.

Cook may not go down as one of the all-time great quarterbacks in Missouri history, but fans will surely remember this story for a very long time.
