Kansas Jayhawk News

Mayo, Dickinson, and Harris Now Attracting NBA Attention

The chances of Hunter Dickinson, Dajuan Harris and Zeke Mayo being selected in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft appeared to disappear when the three former Kansas basketball players failed to receive invitations to both the NBA Combine and G League Elite Camp. Never say never, however.

An informed but ultimately speculative attempt to guess the KU men’s basketball schedule: Part 2

It would make sense, then, for Big 12 play to start on Saturday, Jan. 3, since that provides the league with 19 matchdays ahead of its March 10 tournament, similar to how its schedule worked in 2023-24. But would it be remotely reasonable to try to guess which KU games, and which open date, the league might pick for those 19 matchdays?

Analyzing Jayhawks’ Remaining Roster Options

KU has three spots to fill over the next few months to round out the roster. Who might the Jayhawks add?

Anonymous Big 12 Coach Casts Doubt on Kansas Football

The skepticism surrounding KU is not too surprising given KU’s 5–7 finish in 2024, but there is plenty of reason for optimism.

25 Thoughts on the 2025 U.S. Open

It’s time to go. This 125th U.S. Open feels as big and grand as it gets in professional golf. Every top player is here and the golf course is the pinnacle of a championship test. We know it’s hard. We know why it’s hard. The favorites are indisputable and obvious, aside from one persnickety driver issue, and we know why they’re the favorites. It’s a major that is remarkably settled, with minimal setup or conditioning controversies, reunification tension, or player uncertainty.

88 mph Knuckleball?

The pitch from Kenny Serwa seemingly floated in the air as Victor Bericoto swung and missed for strike three. Just as Bericoto whiffed, so too did Erie SeaWolves catcher Eduardo Valencia, fooled by the sudden, late movement as it skipped off his glove and into the dirt. While Valencia retrieved the ball, Bericoto looked to the ground and shouted in disgust on his way back to the dugout.

What Will You Do?

What will you do if men in uniforms arrive in your neighborhood, and an immigrant neighbor gets a knock on the door and is led away in handcuffs?

Or if the uniforms are not police uniforms, and there is not even a knock?

Note: this is a bit over the top but considering it was published on October 30, 2024 and what we’re currently living through I thought it was a good read. Nothing we’re seeing now should surprise any of us. To be honest, I’m a bit on edge over the whole thing and that’s especially true considering the parade this weekend combined with protests heating up. I’m feeling my inner Buddy Bell and keep telling myself “I never say it can’t get worse”.

QOTD: About a month and a half ago, I hit a deer on my way home from working out in the morning. Saw it standing in the ditch and told it not to move and then it turns around and jumps right in front of me. Minor damage but still sucks and cost me $750. Then, last night I’m making a run to Lowe’s as I’m getting going on a few projects around the house and on the highway is some sort of debris that looked about the size a large lunch box. It was right in the middle of my lane with traffic coming towards me and zero shoulder on my side. It’s either ditch or hope the debris is soft and go over the top of it. Friends, it was not soft. I think whatever it was I hit was made out of the same material that airplane black boxes are made out of. Ended up waiting 2 hours for a tow truck and now I await the call from the mechanic. At best, there goes another $750 and at worst insurance tells me it’s not covered and I’m out thousands.

That’s my first time ever having a vehicle towed. Readers, you have any good roadside stories?
