Nikola Jokić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander deliver Game 5 duel that perfectly encapsulates MVP debate – CBSSports.com
Nikola Jokić is the best basketball player on the planet, and he was also, importantly, the NBA’s best player this season. But he is also almost certainly going to fall short in MVP voting to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for reasons that were on full display in Game 5.

Squeezing the Lemon: Which Clubs Are Maximizing Offensive Output
Projections aren’t promises — they’re baselines. In a game where every roster move and developmental decision matters, one of the fairest ways to evaluate team performance is by how well they’re doing against preseason expectations. Are they simply underperforming relative to their talent, or are they maximizing the value of every player on the roster? By comparing projected performance to actual outcomes, we can begin to see which organizations are extracting every drop of value from their players — and which are leaving juice on the table.
Canzano: It’s ugly when youth sports coaches fall short
The North American Fastpitch Association suspended two softball coaches and called their actions indefensible this week.
I’ll say.
A male and female softball assistant from St. Helens caused a ruckus at a weekend youth softball tournament in Newberg and left an 11-year-old girl from the opposing team in tears.

This might be my curmudgeon side and I expected the spineless Manfred to go through with it but I still hate it. Not only did Pete Rose gamble on baseball, he lied about it until he couldn’t. Then he lied more about it. Then, when he confessed, he tried to make it sound better by claiming he only bet on his team to win. After all of that, he continued to be a jerk about anything that didn’t directly benefit Pete Rose. To be honest, I’d support this move 100% if I knew Rose was aware of it now and knowing the fact that he’ll never be able to tell a single soul that he’s a Hall of Famer.

So, again, I ask: Is this a man who really needs to be honored? No, he doesn’t. He stained the game and doesn’t deserve it, even posthumously.

Medicaid debate: Focus on “able-bodied” Medicaid recipients is aimed at scaling back Obamacare
Thus it is important to realize that the complaint about so-called able-bodied people being on Medicaid is really a recyling of the efforts to repeal all or portions of Obamacare, which was attempted over 60 times in the 2017-2020 period.

It’s graduation week at the University of Georgia. When you live in a college town, Graduation, one of the biggest moments of your life when it happens to you or someone you love, can’t help but start to feel a little rote. It really is the same thing every year.
I haven’t wanted more ‘Star Wars’ in forever. ‘Andor’ changed that.
So when “Andor” — spun off from the film “Rogue One” and centered on Diego Luna’s petty criminal-turned-rebel Cassian Andor — came along three years ago, I was ready for it to suck, the same way everything else “Star Wars” has sucked lately. Instead, I got one of the best shows of that year or any other.

Hasan Piker Just Gave His Millions Of Followers A Masterclass In What Not To Do When Detained By CBP | Techdirt
Progressive streamer Hasan Piker’s recent detention by CBP at the Chicago airport has generated widespread outrage — and rightfully so. No US citizen should be interrogated about their political beliefs when re-entering their own country. But while CBP’s behavior was egregious, Piker’s response was potentially even more dangerous: he chose to engage in a two-hour conversation with federal agents without a lawyer present, streaming about it afterward as if this were just more content for his millions of followers.

QOTD: When does summer officially start for you?
I’m 43 years old and for every year of my life, my summer has started when school let out in May. That was true before I was in school because both of my parents were in education, held true while I was going to school through college because that was when my summer job started, and since I made the decision to stay in education it has held true the last 19 years. In other words, summer starts in 8 days for me.
