The sense of urgency in the college basketball transfer portal is already on full display. Bill Self and Kansas might embody it the most in the 2024 cycle. After a season when Kansas’ depth options dried up in a hurry, Self is quickly pivoting to make sure that doesn’t happen again. Florida transfer Riley Kugel and South Dakota State transfer Zeke Mayo were two quick additions to buff up the wing depth. Kansas made another huge splash Thursday, reeling in prized Wisconsin transfer AJ Storr.

The practice time and format remained the same, as KU practiced in the morning with the same high intensity it’s had since Leipold took over. Kansas football has lost its fourth scholarship player to the transfer portal since the spring window opened last week. After three players entered the portal last week, freshman wide receiver Surahz Buncon officially entered his name into the portal on Sunday evening. He has since confirmed his entry into the portal via social media.

Bill Self calls Zach Clemence ‘the most improved player on our team’ following redshirt season
Zach Clemence redshirted during the 2023-24 basketball season, following his return to the program after he entered the transfer portal last offseason. Clemence initially departed the program last spring, looking for a new school before he eventually agreed to a return to KU under the mutually agreed to condition that he take a redshirt season to improve.
