Former Kansas star Ben McLemore was arrested this Tuesday on charges of first-degree rape, according to multiple reports.
After being detained Tuesday morning, McLemore was transported to Clackamas County Jail. His arraignment was scheduled for this Wednesday in Clackamas County Circuit Court.
McLemore, 31, is facing one count of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration. He’s also facing two counts of second-degree sexual abuse.
Additional details regarding this disturbing situation are expected to come to light after McLemore’s arraignment.
McLemore became a household name during the 2012-13 college basketball season, averaging 15.9 points per game. He was an All-American and All-Big 12 performer in his only season with the Kansas Jayhawks.
The Sacramento Kings selected McLemore with the No. 7 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He never truly lived up to his potential.
Over the past decade, McLemore had stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers before heading overseas to play for the Shandong Hi-Speed Kirin and AEK Athens.
McLemore’s current team, Rio Breogan, has not issued a statement on his situation.
