Jalon Daniels was projected to be one of the top quarterbacks in college football this season, only to be sidelined much of the season by an injury.
Fortunately, the Kansas star will have a chance to redeem himself next year. Daniels announced Wednesday afternoon he’ll be returning to school for the 2024 season.
“I’ma be blunt. This season didn’t go as planned,” Daniels said in the video he released on X/Twitter. “Life comes at you fast, and sometimes, your story is out of your control. But I guess that just means I have unfinished business.
“I’m not done yet. And I’m not going anywhere. Rock Chalk.”

After seeing significant action during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Daniels broke out last fall. He threw for 2,014 yards, 18 touchdowns and four interceptions and added 425 rushing yards and seven touchdowns as Kansas reached the Liberty Bowl, its first postseason game in 14 years.
This season, Daniels has thrown for 705 yards, five touchdowns and one interception but has not played since Week 4. Jason Bean has taken his place, leading the Jayhawks to a 7-3 record heading into Saturday’s game against No. 23 Kansas State.
