Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks started off their Friday morning with a bang, landing one of the best players in the transfer portal, Rylan Griffen.
This past season, Griffen averaged 11.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game for Alabama. Last week, he was on campus to see what Kansas had to offer. Clearly, that visit went well.
Griffen confirmed that he’s heading to Kansas with a not-so-subtle post on social media.
“Rock chalk,” Griffen wrote on X.
Griffen picked Kansas over the rest of the field because of Self’s ability to develop players.
“I chose Kansas because Coach [Bill] Self and the coaching staff are going to push me to be the best player I can be,” Griffen said, via ESPN. “I think I fit in because they said they needed shooting. I think I can help them in that area. I think I can help them with perimeter defense and help get stops and help carry on the same winning culture they’ve always had.”
Kansas has already landed Zeke Mayo, Riley Kugel and AJ Storr through the transfer portal. Now, we can officially add Griffen to that group.
With Dajuan Harris Jr. and KJ Adams returning for another season, Kansas should be a national title contender.
