Today marks the deadline for college basketball players to leave the NBA Draft pool and return to college for another year. With that all taken care of, CBS has a new ranking on the top teams in college hoops.

On Wednesday, CBS Sports analyst Gary Parrish released his latest Top 25 and One rankings ahead of the 2023-24 season. Among the big name players who chose to stay in college and skip the NBA Draft were Purdue’s Zach Edey, and a trio of Kansas starters – Dajuan Harris, Kevin McCullar and K.J. Adams.

Surprisingly, the only team to fall out of the top 10 entirely were reigning national champion UConn. They fell from second to 11th, with the Miami Hurricanes rising to ninth to fill out the top 10.

Here is CBS’ top 10 out of the top 25 teams in the ranking to start the month of June:

  1. Kansas
  2. Purdue
  3. Duke
  4. Florida Atlantic
  5. Michigan State
  6. Marquette
  7. Houston
  8. Creighton
  9. Miami
  10. Arkansas

Perhaps the most interesting team on the list is FAU, who reached the Final Four for the first time in school history.

Parrish noted that the Owls are returning all of their starters from this past year’s Cinderella run to the Final Four. FAU are also moving to a new conference – the AAC – and Parrish expects that they will win the conference in their first year in their new home.

How would you rank the top teams in college basketball heading into the new season?
