Kansas coach Bill Self has hit the portal hard this offseason, and another huge piece is on the way to Lawrence.
Alabama transfer small forward Rylan Griffen pledged to the Jayhawks on Friday, giving the Jayhawks four portal commits this cycle. Griffen, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing, will join former Wisconsin guard AJ Storr, former South Dakota State guard Zeke Mayo and former Florida guard Riley Kugel.

Griffen, the Richardson (TX) native, averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game last season at Alabama. During the Crimson Tide’s five-game Final Four run, Griffen posted 12.4 points per game and shot 13-for-27 (48.2%) from 3-point range. He will provide Kansas with much needed shooting on the wing to space the floor with KJ Adams returning and the possibility of Hunter Dickinson coming back as well.
All four of Self’s portal adds this offseason averaged nine points per game or more last season at their respective schools, with Kugel the lone player not in double-figures. All four have also shot over 34% from beyond the arc in their careers.
Griffen was a four-star prospect and the No. 43 overall player in the nation per 247Sports coming out of high school. He was recruited by Jeremy Case and Kansas out of high school in 2022 but ultimately chose Nate Oats and Alabama.
Now, he’s a Jayhawk.
