Kansas State lands PJ Haggerty, No. 2 player in transfer portal

PJ Haggerty, an AP Second Team All-American during the 2024-25 season, has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and will transfer to Kansas State, a source told ZAGSBLOG.

ESPN’s Jonathan Givony was first to report the news.

Haggerty is ranked the No. 2 overall prospect in the transfer portal by 247Sports. Last season with Memphis, he averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 47.6% from the field and 39-of-107 (36.4%) from beyond the arc.

He is looking to play point guard at Kansas State.

“PJ wants to be on the ball,” one source said. “He didn’t want to be off the ball anymore.”

Haggerty was said to be asking for $4 million in NIL, but sources told ZAGSBLOG he got $2 million guaranteed plus $500,000 in incentives.

This is now Haggerty’s fourth school in four seasons. He started his career at TCU before transferring to Tulsa in 2023-24, where Haggerty first exploded onto the scene and averaged 20+ points per game as a sophomore. Haggerty then transferred to Memphis for last season, and he now lands at Kansas State.

Haggerty joins shooting guard Nate Johnson, power forward Khamari McGriff, shooting guard Abdi Bashir Jr. and power forward Tyreek Smith in Kansas State’s portal class.
