Asher Tomaszewski (b. April 20, 2004), a young defensive tackle from the Chicago suburbs who shows strength, toughness and good awareness (based on his highlight film), is majoring in criminology. He likely will be a key interior reserve during the 2025 season.
Tomaszewski already earned playing time in 2023 as a reserve defensive tackle against Southeast Missouri and Baylor, but was able to retain his redshirt status. He then played in eight games in 2024 as a reserve defensive lineman, seeing time on 33 defensive snaps.
Tomaszewski prepped under head coach Jordan Lynch, a former Northern Illinois quarterback and 2013 Heisman Award finalist, at Mount Carmel (Illinois) High School, where he was ranked as an offensive guard by ESPN, which rated him No. 106 in the Class of 2023, while Rivals rated him the 33rd-best overall prospect in the state of Illinois.
He picked up all-conference honors as both an offensive and defensive lineman in 2022.
Tomaszewski helped to lead the Caravan to a 14-0 record and a state championship as a senior, while he earned second-team all-state honors as an offensive lineman in 2021.
He picked Kansas State over offers from Akron (practically the entire MAC, really), Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Fordham, Holy Cross, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Montana, Navy, New Mexico State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Ohio, Toledo, Western Michigan and Wyoming, as well as interest from Boston College, Illinois State, Missouri, Northern Illinois, Syracuse and Wisconsin.
Tomaszewski’s main recruiters were Joe Klanderman and position coach Mike Tuiasosopo.
