In which BracketCat counts down the 33rd day until the 2025 kickoff with a profile of Kansas State long snapper Andrew Johnson.
Yes, I know today is actually 31 days until kickoff. Please bear with me this week as I work to catch back up. I had a medical emergency Friday night and have been out of commission for the past four days. In order for me to catch back up with the Countdown, I will be taking an indefinite hiatus from the Protest Playoff posts until I’m feeling better.

Andrew Johnson (b. Feb. 22, 2005), not to be confused with the 17th president, is a walk-on long snapper from Lincoln (Neb.) Christian School who is majoring in finance.
In 2024, Johnson snapped for one field goal attempt apiece against Houston and Arizona State. Given the snapping woes we had last season, his offseason improvement could be critical to the Cats’ success in 2025.
He was a four-year letter-winner under head coach Kurt Earl at Lincoln Christian, where he earned all-city and all-conference honors and also played baseball, earning all-state honors after setting nine single-season and career records.
Johnson spent his true freshman season of college in 2023 as a pitcher at Concordia University, an NAIA school in Seward, Nebraska. K-State appears to count this as a redshirt.
Said special teams coordinator Nate Kaczor of the long-snapping competition this summer:
Mason Olguin right now has been our snapper. Andrew Johnson, who is behind him, those two guys are competing for a job, too.
Man, I just hope one of them emerges as “the guy” finally, because we can’t have a repeat of those snapping and holding yips again this season. There’s no Chris Tennant to save us.
