You can never have too many cornerbacks in the NFL or at least that’s how the old adage goes. Chiefs fans should be familiar with that given the start of the 2020 season, with a suspended Bashaud Breeland and an injured Charvarius Ward.
Having depth at the cornerback position has been a strength of this team lately, despite the teams’ lack of investment in the position in terms of draft capital. It hasn’t been for lack of trying as GM Brett Veach revealed on the documentary series “The Franchise.” He claimed to be looking at cornerbacks intently in the 2019 NFL draft. For one reason or another, players weren’t available and it somehow worked out for the better.
