Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been in Cabo with his wife Brittany for their continued offseason vacation, but had a slight run-in with some NFL fans who tried to have some fun at their expense.
According to TMZ, the Mahomes family were enjoying a date at a Latin restaurant on Thursday when some Las Vegas Raiders fans decided to start heckling them. Per the report, eyewitnesses said that the fans were booing, hissing and shouting “Raiders!” at the couple as they were leaving the restaurant.
As annoying as it must have been for Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, NFL fans found it more pathetic than anything else given that Mahomes has largely dominated the Raiders since coming into the league.
Some fans took to TMZ’s comments section and started pointing out just how easy it would be to combat Raiders fans heckling them.
“How can anyone not break out laughing when Raider fans start heckling? It’s nothing but straight comedy. Like shouting GENERALS!!! At the Harlem Globetrotters as they walk by,” one user joked.
“All Mahomes has to do is say ‘scoreboard,'” wrote another.
“Proper response woulda been “RIIIIINGS”!!!” a third wrote.
Mahomes recently led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers at the Raiders’ very own Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. As a result, he now has more playoff wins at the Raiders’ own stadium than the Raiders have total playoff wins in the last two decades.
Then again, those fans were probably too drunk to realize how silly they looked.
