The Kansas City Chiefs extended Andy Reid’s contract again on Monday night.
Reid is now under contract through 2029 and is the highest-paid head coach in the NFL, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. General manager Brett Veach is also under contract through the end of this decade.
Both deals have quarterback Patrick Mahomes pretty happy.
“Yessir,” Mahomes tweeted.
Reid has done a tremendous job coaching this team since he was hired in 2013. He’d led the Chiefs to three Super Bowls in the last five seasons, including two in the last two seasons.
He’s also led the Chiefs to the playoffs in 10 of his 11 seasons at the helm.
Veach has also done a great job building out the roster and has been the general manager since July 2017. Before he was named GM, he was the co-director of player personnel.
The Chiefs wouldn’t be where they are without the success of both men.
Reid and Veach will now try and help the Chiefs become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls this season. Even though it’s never been done, they should be the favorites since they have the best quarterback in the league.
