With the final total cap figure in place, Kansas City ends up with an estimated $6.5 million in cap space.
The NFL and the NFLPA (the union representing its players) have agreed that the league’s 2025 salary cap — the maximum player pay for which the Kansas City Chiefs (and the rest of the NFL’s teams) can account in each season — has been set at $279.2 million.

Another record high, this represents a 9.3% increase over 2024’s salary cap of $255.4 million. It has risen $159 million in the last 15 years — an increase of 232%.

But that’s nothing compared to 1994’s original salary cap at $34.6 million. The 2025 cap number represents an 807% increase over those 32 seasons!
As we told you a week ago, the cap was expected to be between $277.5 million and $281.5 million. The final number is a little less than halfway between those two figures.
With the adjustment for the final cap figure, we now estimate that the Chiefs have $6.5 million in cap space. The team is expected to make multiple moves to increase that figure before the new league year begins on March 12.
