Everything that went down during Kansas City’s 10th training camp practice in St. Joseph.
On Saturday morning, the Kansas City Chiefs returned to the practice field at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph for the 10th full practice of the team’s 2025 training camp.
This was one of 17 sessions scheduled for the team’s practice field next to MWSU’s Spratt Stadium. Six of the remaining practices will be open to the public — click here for details and a full schedule — while one more will be open only to the team’s Season Ticket Members.
Arrowhead Pride editor-in-chief Pete Sweeney was there. He posted some observations on social media — beginning with another cooler day.
A cooler day for practice in St. Joseph, with temperatures hanging in the mid-70s throughout practice. Ashton Gillotte said he was thankful it finally cooled off after some scorching days this week.

There continued to be no drama at left tackle.
As has been the case all camp, rookie Josh Simmons remains locked in at left tackle. In today’s look, Jaylon Moore rotated with Jawaan Taylor at right tackle.

With newly-signed cornerback Kristian Fulton still on the mend, the team is relying on familiar faces in the secondary.
At cornerback, the #Chiefs have typically been running Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson outside with Chamarri Conner inside. In looks where McDuffie has been inside, it has typically been Watson and Nazeeh Johnson outside.

Pete was particularly impressed with three of the wideouts.
WRs Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals all stood out to me in one-on-ones. Jason Brownlee somehow made a back-shoulder catch with one arm deep down the right sideline, and Nikko Remigio caught a deep post in stride.

Unsurprisingly, the quarterback made some amazing throws.
In 11-on-11 near the goal line, Patrick Mahomes rolled to his right and jump-threw across his body to float a perfect pass to Rashee Rice for a touchdown. Head-shaker. He followed it up with a score to JuJu Smith-Schuster.

He made another cool play with his back to his own end zone.
From his own 5, Mahomes handled a blitz to get a quick pass off to Royals, leaving few defenders to get to the speedy receiver. Mahomes lifted his arms to signal what he thought would have been a 95-yard TD (the crowd liked this).
Nazeeh Johnson dove to break up the next…

A player signed on Friday was catching punts on Saturday.
During the punting period, Nikko Remigio took the first return, followed by Brashard Smith and then Key’Shawn Smith.

JuJu turned some heads on another play.
In 7-on-7, Smith-Schuster made a nice adjustment on a crosser to bring in a throw that was behind him. Mahomes zipped a pass over the head of Jack Cochrane for a completion to Noah Gray. Chris Roland-Wallace broke up a Minshew pass looking for Geor’Quarius Spivey.

But the defense made some plays, too…
In Mahomes’ next turn at 7s, he hit Worthy in the left intermediate, and Worthy cut back to the other side of the field, evading defenders for what would have been a touchdown. More cheers from the crowd.
Later in the period, McDuffie stripped Worthy, forcing a fumble.

The backup quarterback threw a pick — and benefitted from a great catch.
Minshew threw a pass into traffic that was intercepted by Glendon Miller. Remigio made a really nice diving catch to bring in a Minshew pass along the left sideline.

The head coach put the team through one of his long-drive drills.
The Chiefs finished practice with a 16-play long-drive period. Jawaan Taylor took the first six plays at right tackle before giving way to Jaylon Moore. Minshew’s drive lasted seven plays, and Bailey Zappe saw two.

As always, Pete did some ciphering on all of Mahomes’ targets…
Mahomes targets on the day (11-on-11): Rice (4), Worthy (4), Kelce (3), Tonyan (3), Gray (2), Royals (2), Thornton (2), Hunt, Pacheco, Remigio, Smith-Schuster, Watson

The next practice will be at 9:15 a.m. Arrowhead Time on Sunday. It will be a light practice that leads to an off day on Monday. As always, we will have live updates after it begins. When it is over, the whole team will sign autographs, while head coach Andy Reid will be among those speaking to reporters.
