Kansas City announced its undrafted rookie signings just before the team’s rookie minicamp.
On Saturday, the Kansas City Chiefs announced the signings of 16 undrafted free agents (UDFAs) following last weekend’s NFL Draft. All of these players will be on the practice field for the team’s rookie minicamp, which will be held Saturday through Monday at the team’s training facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex.
Other roster moves
The Chiefs began clearing room for their UDFA class on Wednesday by making six roster moves. The team finished making room on its 90-man roster for the class on Saturday by releasing linebacker Blake Lynch and waiving former fifth-round pick BJ Thompson.
Here are the newly-signed UDFAs (and their rankings from Arrowhead Pride’s consensus draft prospect rankings, if applicable):
TE Jake Briningstool, Clemson (164)
The Brentwood, Tennessee native measured 6 feet 6 and weighed 241 pounds at the Combine. Over his final two seasons at Clemson, Briningstool totaled 99 catches for 1,028 yards and 12 touchdowns.
WR Elijhah Badger, Florida (230)
Hailing from South Sacramento, California, Badger played four seasons at Arizona State before transferring to Florida last season. In his lone season as a Gator, Badger caught 39 passes for 806 yards and four touchdowns. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he measured 6 feet 1 and weighed 200 pounds. Badger appeared to put himself on the draft radar with a 4.43-second 40-yard dash time in Indianapolis.

T Esa Pole, Washington State (360)
A latecomer to football after playing basketball in high school, Pole split his college days between Chabot College in California and Washington State. Pole reportedly took a Top 30 visit in Kansas City.
LB Brandon George, Pittsburgh (411)
George finally broke through in 2024 as a sixth-year senior. Coming from Reading, Pennsylvania, he also took a Top 30 visit with the Chiefs — and we featured him in our draft series. While already 24, George’s pro day performance — in which he measured 6 feet 3 and weighed 246 pounds — was an all-time great athletic showing among linebacker prospects.
DT Coziah Izzard, Penn State (472)
Izzard was credited with nine sacks over the past four seasons with Penn State. At the school’s pro day — where the Chiefs reportedly had a meeting with him — the Columbia, Maryland product weighed 298 pounds and measured 6 feet 3.
CB Melvin Smith Jr., Southern Arkansas (501)
In 2024, Smith dominated a lesser level of competition with five interceptions. He put himself on the league’s radar by holding his own at this year’s Senior Bowl, and the Chiefs reportedly hosted Smith for a Top 30 visit. At Southern Arkansas’ pro day, the Bossier City, Louisiana native measured 5 feet 10 and weighed 190 pounds. He reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 4.39 seconds.
WR Mac Dalena, Fresno State (691)
Coming from Fresno, California, Dalena stayed local for college. He broke out in his fifth season, catching 64 passes for 1065 yards and eight touchdowns. Dalena measured slightly under 5 feet 10 and weighed 180 pounds at Fresno State’s pro day. He reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds.
