The Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with seven players on Saturday as rookie minicamp got underway.
While a throng of rookies and a few veterans took the practice field in Kansas City, the Chiefs had to clear a few spaces on their roster to officially sign 17 undrafted free agents.
Being cut is part of life in the NFL, and with a Super Bowl championship to defend in 2024, Kansas City’s front office is laser-focused on maximizing every spot on its roster.
Though their journies with the Chiefs may have come to an abrupt end on Saturday, the players who were released by Kansas City can compete for a chance to play elsewhere next season. It also wouldn’t be out of the question for some of the veterans to catch back on with the Chiefs later in the offseason after Andy Reid’s coaching staff weeds out the undrafted players who don’t make the cut after rookie minicamp.
