The latest odds to know from our friends at OddsChecker.
Our friends at OddsChecker sent over some opening NFL odds to start the week, and as of this writing, the Kansas City Chiefs stand as 8.5-point favorites to beat the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs visit the Chargers Sunday at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
That spread seems low considering how both teams played this past week. The Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 34-20 last Thursday, and the Chargers narrowly defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 16-13 on Sunday. The Chiefs have additional rest given Thursday Night Football, but it is their first road game of the season.
Some other early numbers on the game see bettors backing the Chiefs. 81% of bettors like the Chiefs on the moneyline (no spread) as opposed to 19% for the Chargers. 55% of early bettors have taken the Chiefs to win by 8.5.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes remains the favorite to win the AP NFL MVP award (+400), ahead of both Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (+650) and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (+700). Those numbers equate to a 20% chance Mahomes wins the award.
