The Kansas City Chiefs kicked off their rookie minicamp this weekend, which means fans got an early look at wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
The Chiefs traded up in the first round of this year’s draft to select Worthy. The front office valued his speed, which was on full display at the NFL Combine.
“It’s a speed game and the more speed you have on the field, the harder it is for defenses to take away different elements of the game,” Chiefs general manager Brett Veach said. “Anytime you can add speed and add a guy with that type of versatility, I think you’re going to be interested. Just our ability to play vertical and have speed on the field at all times and having Xavier and Hollywood … I think as the season goes on here, I think we’ll have just an offense that can attack in multiple different ways and always keep defenses guessing.”
Worthy’s speed is undeniable, there’s no question about it. That being said, his first rep at rookie minicamp didn’t play out the way he hoped it would.
After getting in and out of his break, Worthy dropped a pass that hit him right in the hands.
Although it’s not a big deal, there’ll probably be some people who mock Worthy on social media for this blunder.

In his final season at Texas, Worthy had 75 receptions for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.
It’s only a matter of time before Worthy makes a strong impression on the coaching staff in Kansas City.
