The Philadelphia Eagles ended the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat bid last Sunday in Super Bowl LIX with fantastic contributions from their quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts. The devastating loss won’t feel great in the short term, but All-Pro Trent McDuffie expressed pride in how his teammates battled through the year during his postgame press conference.
“It’s been a long season. We had a great year. We made it back for the third time, and it didn’t go our way.” said McDuffie. “But I’m proud of this team, proud of myself, and we fought for four quarters, you know, we never hung our heads down when we were down, and we just kept fighting.”
McDuffie and the rest of the Chiefs secondary were often attacked by the Eagles offense led by Hurts, who made big plays to his top receivers when needed. McDuffie will end his third year in the league without a Super Bowl title for the first time in his young career.
“Don’t take anything for granted, “said McDuffie. “I think during the week, you know, you can get excited having lost all these different things, but at the end of the day, you got to come ready to play a game, you know? And I think we did a good job preparing this week, and sure, it just didn’t go away. So learned a lot, and kind of just move forward from it.”
The Chiefs will look ahead to the offseason and make decisions on multiple players before trying to run it back for another Super Bowl run in 2025.
