The greatest all-time late-round draft choice for NFL franchise | Yardbarker
Kansas City Chiefs: Mike Garrett (1966)
Trey Smith could be the choice a few years from now, but the Chiefs nabbing Garrett in the 20th round of a 20-round draft makes him the clear choice. The final AFL draft saw Garrett become the fourth-to-last player chosen (178th out of USC). Garrett was not a mere late-round flier, having won the 1965 Heisman Trophy and having been a fourth-round Dodgers draftee. He chose the Chiefs over the Rams and became an all-time RB find, starting immediately and earning All-AFL acclaim in 1967. The handoff recipient on perhaps the Super Bowl’s most memorable play call ( 65 Toss Power Trap), Garrett produced two 1,000-yard seasons, the second with the Chargers in 1972.

31. Kansas City Chiefs: Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
This would be fun, wouldn’t it?
Travis Kelce has been begging for a reduced workload, but the Chiefs couldn’t give him one last year. Loveland would help enormously in preserving Kelce for the postseason. And the Michigan tight end is, by far, the best offensive weapon available in this slot for a team that desperately needed playmakers last season.

It’s the first time Mahomes autographed cards will appear in a licensed product since 2020 sets. The cards will be featured across Panini’s line of NFL products, and Panini will also work with Mahomes on additional strategic and marketing initiatives.
“Panini has been with me since my NFL Draft party in 2017, and I’m excited to be working with them on these new autographed trading cards,” Mahomes said in a statement. “The Panini team continues to find ways to create really interesting trading cards that fans have come to enjoy and I’m looking forward to working with them to help develop these cards for the 2025 season.”

31. Kansas City Chiefs: G Donovan Jackson, Ohio State
Offensive tackle is the trendy pick for the Chiefs, but I’m far more concerned about the team’s left guard spot. Jackson started 2024 at left guard before kicking outside to left tackle after Josh Simmons‘ injury. While he struggled with the move at first, he allowed just two pressures from 126 pass-blocking snaps over the course of the College Football Playoff. He can start inside as a rookie, with his long-term position still to be determined.
Round 1 – Pick 31
Oregon • Sr • 6’2” / 332 lbs
They need help inside next to Chris Jones and this kid has a chance to be special. He is a power player who can push the pocket. Some might think this is too high, but I don’t.

Kirk Cousins reports to Falcons for first day of voluntary offseason work | NBC Sports
Kirk Cousins is not expected to be the Falcons’ starter in 2025, but Atlanta has not shown any urgency when it comes to potentially trading him.
Nevertheless, Cousins is not staying away from the team’s building during the voluntary portion of the offseason.
Per Zach Klein of WSB Atlanta, Cousins reported for the first day of Phase I on Tuesday.
As noted by Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, Cousins surprised some in the building by showing up.
Cousins is unlikely to be traded until at least after the draft — if he’s to be traded at all. He’s set to make $27.5 million in 2025 and has a no-trade clause.
Sources – Browns, Giants fielding trade calls as NFL draft nears | ESPN
Although the Tennessee Titans are not entertaining offers for the first overall pick as of Tuesday morning, sources told Schrager that the Browns, who have the second pick, and the Giants, who pick third, have received trade calls over the past 48 hours — and that neither team is outwardly rejecting those overtures.
The expectation, sources told Schrager, is that those teams looking to trade up to the No. 2 or No. 3 pick are pursuing Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.
All 32 teams in the NFL still have their original first-round pick this year, which has seen a historic lack of trades in the lead-up to the draft. With Thursday’s first round just two days away, this is the closest to the start of a draft without any trades involving first-round picks in the common draft era (since 1967), according to ESPN Research.

Chiefs Draft: Our 10 favorite players for Kansas City this weekend
Jordan James, RB, Oregon
I haven’t written about James this draft season, but I’m a big fan of him. When I watched James, I kept remarking that while he doesn’t have the elite top gear to make explosive plays, he would find any way to get six yards. He has enough bounce to be successful running outside zone or between the tackles. He’s explosive when he first touches the ball and runs with excellent patience and vision. James can’t explode into open space for big plays, but is an efficient runner who can carve out yards. I see a starting running back for a long time.
