The Kansas City Chiefs drafted the fastest player in the 2024 NFL draft, Xavier Worthy, on Thursday night to bolster their offense ahead of their Super Bowl defense campaign next season.
Worthy, who ran a record-setting 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the combine in March, should be an immediate asset for Patrick Mahomes in Andy Reid’s offense, and has a chance to help revive Kansas City’s passing game after a season where the Chiefs struggled to find offensive consistency.
Fans in Kansas City were thrilled with general manager Brett Veach’s decision to trade up with the Buffalo Bills to secure Worthy’s services. The savvy front-office master also earned the approval of both current and former Chiefs players, who saw the pick as a serious investment in Kansas City’s future.
Speed kills in the NFL, and with a championship three-peat on the line, the Chiefs seem uniquely positioned to make a run at another Super Bowl.
